Juan José Castro Tangos. Musical Portrayals of the Male Role of the Argentine Tango.

This exciting program that explores the male characters in the Argentinean tango is delivered in the format of a lecture recital. It presents the work Tangos by the Argentinean academic composer Juan José Castro. Its duration is approximately 60 minutes, presenting the lecture and musical excerpts from the work, followed by the performance of the entire work and a short debate for answering questions from the public.

The Tango in American Piano Music. Selected Tangos by: Thompson, Copland, Barber, Jaggard, Biscardi , and Bolcom.

 

DMA dissertation. Explores the genesis of the tango, its history and influences in dance and art music  in the United States. Includes a deep analysis of the main tango features each composer chose to emphasis.
This is a multimedia presentation with slides show and live performance of the pieces.

 


Mozart Piano Concerto in C minor K 491


This lecture explores issues of performance practice in Mozart's concerto K 491. Inform about the latest discoveries on Mozart's instrument as well as incomplete notation, embellishments, and cadenzas.
It could be presented in two formats: lecture or  lecture-recital including the performance of the concerto.

 

 

Cultural Representation. Iconographic Analysis of American Early Tango Sheet Music.

 

Explores, throughout different venues, the impact of this international acclaimed dance in the USA culture. The analysis focus on the iconography of early sheet music,  the music-dance relation, as well as linguistic, socio-cultural and economic aspects. Research project under the sponsorship of the Smithsonian Institution.
